Moderate Water Needs Urn Flower requires a moderate amount of water. You will want to allow the top few inches of soil dry in between waterings. As a general rule of thumb, depending on where you have planted and how much light your Urn Flower receives, you may need to water once a week.
Growing Indoors If you are growing indoors or in a container, you can always check the moisture of the soil by using your thum or finger. Stick it in the soil -- if it is dry, then you will likely want to water your Urn Flower.
Pot selection is also important to keep your Urn Flower from getting too wet. It is important to select a pot with plenty of drainage holes as this will allow excess water to train out of the pot rather than to just sit on the bottom. Drainage holes also allow air to get into the soil from the bottom of the pot. Using a terracotta pot or another type of pot made of a permeable material can also help keepUrn Flower from getting too wet. Terracotta and other similar materials allow water to wick away from the soil faster than they would in a plastic pot.
Growing Outdoors If you are growing Urn Flower outdoors, the amount of light your plant is receiving is key to determining how often to water your plant. Plants that require moderate water, generally do best if they can get some respite from the sun during the day as it can dry out the soil fairly quickly. If you have planted in a sunny area, you will likely need to water this plant more often than if it is planted in a shady area. The type of soil you plant in is also important. Sandy and loamy soils tend to dry out much quicker. You can always amend soil with organic material such as peat moss or compost to encourage moisture retention.

Urn Flower can tolerate and grow in moderate light and partially
shady areas which means it prefers about 2-4 hours of diffused
natural light. Moderate and partial shade plants can tolerate some
bright, direct sun, but it's best to give them respite and plant
in primarily shady areas of your space.
When plants like Urn Flower grow in moderate light or partially shady areas, you will want to avoid exposing them to direct sunlight unless direct sun is specified as a light need for the plant. In which case it can tolerate a wide range of low light to direct sun conditions and is very forgiving!
If growing outdoors, you will want to plant Urn Flower in a primarily partially shady area that may receive some morning sun (East side).Urn Flower is a great option for shade gardens or underneath trees or near fence lines that provide cover from bright sunlight.
If growing indoors, you can grow this type of plant in a lot of
different areas of your house. The only thing to keep in mind is
that you'll want to avoid direct sunlight (unless specified) for Urn Flower. This means if you are growing near a South-facing
window, make sure to place it a few feet away from the window.
South-facing windows receive the most amount of bright, indirect
and direct light a day. Eastern-facing windows receive light in
the morning and afternoon shade, while West-facing windows receive
sun in the afternoon. North-facing windows receive the least
amount of light and would be great candidates for where to place
you Urn Flower.
