Native to Taiwan and China, the Serpent Tree has glossy dark green leaves and fragrant white or yellow trumpet-shaped flowers in spring and summer. As a houseplant, it rarely blooms and is very particular about its growing conditions. It does not like drafts, windy areas, or substantial changes to its light, water, and temperature. It will tell you enough is enough by dropping some of its leaves.

Indoor houseplants need a balanced mix of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to maintain healthy leaves, vibrant flowers, and a strong root system.
