📚 Quito Palm Care Guide

Quito Palm details
💧️ Water - Medium Water
Moderate Water Needs
Quito Palm requires a moderate amount of water. You will want to allow the top few inches of soil dry in between waterings. As a general rule of thumb, depending on where you have planted and how much light your Quito Palm receives, you may need to water once a week.

Growing Indoors
If you are growing indoors or in a container, you can always check the moisture of the soil by using your thum or finger. Stick it in the soil -- if it is dry, then you will likely want to water your Quito Palm.

Pot selection is also important to keep your Quito Palm from getting too wet. It is important to select a pot with plenty of drainage holes as this will allow excess water to train out of the pot rather than to just sit on the bottom. Drainage holes also allow air to get into the soil from the bottom of the pot. Using a terracotta pot or another type of pot made of a permeable material can also help keepQuito Palm from getting too wet. Terracotta and other similar materials allow water to wick away from the soil faster than they would in a plastic pot.

Growing Outdoors
If you are growing Quito Palm outdoors, the amount of light your plant is receiving is key to determining how often to water your plant. Plants that require moderate water, generally do best if they can get some respite from the sun during the day as it can dry out the soil fairly quickly. If you have planted in a sunny area, you will likely need to water this plant more often than if it is planted in a shady area. The type of soil you plant in is also important. Sandy and loamy soils tend to dry out much quicker. You can always amend soil with organic material such as peat moss or compost to encourage moisture retention.

Direct Sunlight (Full Sun)
Quito Palm thrives best in direct sunlight or full sun meaning that it loves at least 6-8 hours of bright direct light.

If growing outdoors, you will want to plant Quito Palm in an area that receives sunlight throughout the day. If growing indoors, place near a South-facing window for ideal conditions. South-facing windows receive the most amount of direct light everyday.
