Monstera Obliqua is a unique variety of the Monstera species. This Monstera variety is known for its intricate foliage featuring incredible fenestrations. There is so much leaf perforation, that there’s more empty space than the obliqua leaves themselves. They are considered a rare plant with certain varieties going for upwards of $100+ dollars for a small, starter plant. Given their vining growth habit, similar to Monstera Adansonii, the obliqua is a great option for hanging baskets or training up moss poles and trellises. Be aware though, that unlike other Monsteras, Monstera obliqua exhibits slow growth. Monstera obliqua is sold in various varieties native to South America and Costa Rica ranging from Monster Obliqua ‘Peru’ (peruvian form), Monstera Obliqua ‘Panama’, Monstera Obliqua ‘Surniname’, and Monstera Olibqua ‘Bolivia’. Monstera Obliqua requires a moderate amount of water. You will want to allow the top few inches of soil dry in between waterings. As a general rule of thumb, depending on where you have planted and how much light your Monstera Obliqua receives, you may need to water once a week.

If you are growing indoors or in a container, you can always check the moisture of the soil by using your thum or finger. Stick it in the soil -- if it is dry, then you will likely want to water your Monstera Obliqua.
