The Lipstick Plant can be a little tricky, but once you find the perfect spot for it and don't overwater it, it will reward you with beautiful blooms that look like they came out of a lipstick tube. This plant prefers some bright light for a few hours and then medium light for the rest of the day. It does not like to be overwatered, but it does still enjoy high humidity.

Indoor houseplants need a balanced mix of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium to maintain healthy leaves, vibrant flowers, and a strong root system. Most indoor houseplant plant foods will provide the right amount of nutrients for a wide variety of plants. Many include additional nutrients that are beneficial to plants such as boron, magnesium, and manganese. Plant foods come in different forms such as liquid, slow-release, or granular products.

This type of soil mix is ideal for most houseplants because it’s well-draining, lightweight, and easy to handle. A good indoor houseplant soil mix will include ingredients such as compost, pine bark, coir, worm castings, peat moss, hydrafiber, or perlite.

Lipstick Plant 'Curly'

I got mine in a hanging basket before knowing much about it - just had to have it for the foliage! It's lived in north Texas and now central Texas, outdoors just outside of direct light (bright indirect, as they say) until about 50° at night. I water my plants with really diluted "Alaska Fish Fertilizer", including this and it's been doing very well. occasionally I'll pump some of Miracle Grow's succulent food onto the soil then water every now and then. It likes that, too. Allll this said, I haven't focused on getting it to flower - just been enjoying watching it grow!

surprisingly easy to take care of. it really lets you know when it needs water by getting shriveled/limp leaves (you just need to keep an eye out for them!). Really nice flowers if you give it the light it needs. Looks so nice when it trails.
