Basil is part of the Lamiaceae mint family.  The plant grows square stems with leaves that grow on opposite sides.  The leaves are rounded, slightly cupped, and curve to form at point at the tip. The leaves are mostly green in color, althought there are some that are reddish or purpleish in color.

A seed starting soil mix is designed to give seeds everything they need to start growing. They are typically finer and lighter than regular soil mixes. This mix should contain ingredients such as compost, perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss.

Easy beginner plant! Grows well from seed, forgiving of watering and can propogate in water or grow aquaponics/hydroponically. 1st herb I got to work in my kitchen window! 

This plant is super easy to always have some to cook with because of how easy it is to propagate almost infinite. Taste so good too adds that extra youre looking for in food

a little tricky to maintain, I live in the desert so it needs watering daily but there's plenty of sun around so I don't always have to keep it in direct light

Basil can be tough, but I found that mine does best in a very sunny window and likes moist soil. If you don’t check on the soil regularly then it’ll dry out and the basil will die.
